For Joey

The vibration of the engine,
Tells me he is home,
It's been a long week for him,
And he has been alone.
Hands worn hard by a days hard work,
Short with his replies,
Tell me that he's glad to be home,
I see it in his eyes.
Drops his bags by the door,
I know he's tired and weak.,
It's been a hectic day, it's been a crazy week....
The dogs are barking,
The kids ramble on
And I tell him what's going on,
He misses so very much away,
I know he hates to be gone.
The life we have is simple,
We survived some awful times,
Typical marriage stuff
.......Finding balance and drawing lines.
I'm grateful for the really good days,
And detest the bad ones with spite,
I hate a weekend filled with anger,
Or when we fuss and fight.
Coffee is better on Saturdays
And the couch has room for two,
In the colder months we relax all day,
There's nothing we need to do.
The vibration of the engine,
Tells me he has to go,
Another week out of town,
I know he loves us so!
He will call when he gets settled,
But we will keep it short and brief,
It's hard for him to be away...
It's hard for him to leave.

You and your beloved have stood firm and refused to give up. Walking away is the easy way. Remaining in love and together is harder and incredibly rewarding. A great tribute to your love.
(LOL)
I had one 'wanton woman', but that was my own damn fault...(lost shaker of salt?)
No, I'm just proud of you for standing by your husband. He sounds like my kind of guy.
And my wife is a jewel!
Beautiful! I vote up! =)
Dallaswriter~~ you continue to unfold and become more beautiful~~ as I voted you/ with an UP (in honor of Will's shaker of salt as well / as it led you to your current jewel...!)
You have your own unique style of expressing everyday issues. Both the topic and the way this is written is beautiful...

I spent many years doing just that, and many of the men who did my job ended up divorced because their wives grew tired of lonely nights. A few were strong like the woman in your story, loved their husbands, and appreciated their husband's own sacrifice.
